Full comprehension of the material is essential for technical or industrial training, especially when a new technology or complex machine is introduced to workers. In this case study, we recall how we supported a factory on a machine handling training session using interpreting where technical vocabulary, safety rules and instant understanding played a key role.
The challenge
An automotive company established a new paint shop with the most modern automatization and robot technology. They wanted to provide training for the factory workers to integrate these new solutions. The training was held in English and German by an expert from the company, but most of the workers could speak only Hungarian. The training had to be conducted on site in the factory in accordance with strict work safety rules. The interpreter had to be familiar with clean workspace regulations as well.
The solution
We provided an interpreter who:
- was familiar with the relevant technical and industrial vocabulary, as well as with painting technicalities , robotics and automatization terminology
- was able to transmit the information smoothly via consecutive interpreting for groups of 3-5 people during both theoretical and practical training
- had completed a work safety training and had proper protection equipment (safety shoes, visibility vest, helmet, etc.)
- was familiar with the factory environment and knew its regulations
Ultimately , we ensured that the factory workers were able to learn how to operate the new machines properly and safely, without language barriers.
